The High-Tech Agenda Germany defines health as a key foundation of our societal prosperity. To safeguard health and effectively prevent or treat diseases, medical progress is to be systematically accelerated across the entire value chain.

The PIER PLUS Profile PIER Health and Infection brings together key players in this emerging field from the metropolitan region. At the Centre for Structural Systems Biology (CSSB), a total of ten research partners from Hamburg and beyond are collaborating on issues related to infectious disease biology.

Fraunhofer Research Institution for Additive Manufacturing Technologies IAPT

Broken bones usually require two surgeries: in the first, patients receive an implant; in the second, it is removed. The bioresorbable implants developed as part of the BioMag 3D project are designed to degrade in a controlled manner as the healing process progresses—thereby sparing both patients and the healthcare system the need for a second surgery.
