The North German Science Award (Norddeutscher Wissenschaftspreis) 2026 is jointly awarded by the five federal states of Schleswig-Holstein, Bremen, Hamburg, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, and Lower Saxony for North German collaborations in various scientific fields. This year, projects from the life sciences are eligible to apply.
Cooperation projects from all life science disciplines are eligible for submission to the competition. Entries should be distinguished by scientific excellence and contribute to strengthening scientific networks in northern Germany and their national and international visibility through their research. Projects involving collaboration between different disciplines and institutions are particularly welcome.
The projects must involve institutions from at least two northern German states, including at least one state university and, optionally, non-university research institutions.
Further information on the award and the application process can be found on the Award’s website (German only).
